You must be a veteran who has honorably served overseas in an area of foreign conflict. That includes service that earned a campaign medal, and service where you received Hostile Fire or Imminent Danger Pay. The easiest way to find out is our eligibility screening tool. It checks your service against the VFW National Bylaws, and nothing you enter is saved or sent anywhere.
Yes. Whether you are active duty or retired from the military, you are eligible to join if you meet the VFW's eligibility requirements. Check yours with our eligibility screening tool.
Annual membership is currently $45. Life membership is also available, and its cost depends on your age. Our eligibility screening tool shows both whether you qualify and what your dues would be.
You can join the VFW Auxiliary if you are the parent, grandparent, spouse, sibling, child or grandchild of a veteran who qualifies for the VFW. See our Auxiliary page for the steps to apply.
