Honor a local veteran with a remembrance wreath.

On December 19, 2026, VFW Post 12205 and community volunteers will place sponsored balsam wreaths on veterans’ graves at Hill Country Memorial Gardens — one wreath, one hero, one name spoken aloud.

National Wreaths Across America Day  •  Sat Dec 19, 2026

What this is

A wreath on every veteran’s grave — and their name said out loud.

Wreaths Across America began with a single load of surplus wreaths laid at Arlington in 1992. It is now a national day of remembrance held every December, carried out by local groups at more than 4,000 sites. Post 12205 sponsors the effort at Hill Country Memorial Gardens under group ID TX1619.

Every wreath on this page is sponsored by someone in the community and placed by hand on December 19. Volunteers kneel at each headstone, lay the wreath, and speak the veteran’s name — so that a life of service is not forgotten.

The mission

Three words carry the whole effort. Each wreath is a small act toward all three.

Remember

The veterans who served and the men and women who did not come home. Remembrance is the reason the wreath is laid at all.

Honor

Those who serve today and the families who serve alongside them — at home, overseas, and in every era before ours.

Teach

The next generation — students, scouts, and cadets who help place wreaths — what the cost of freedom has been.

How it works

From your sponsorship to a wreath on a headstone.

I

You sponsor

Each sponsorship funds one fresh balsam wreath. Give through Post 12205’s group link so the credit stays local (group TX1619).

II

It’s assigned to a grave

Your wreath is set aside for a veteran resting at Hill Country Memorial Gardens. Sponsor more than one and the count carries forward.

III

We place it together on December 19

Volunteers gather at the cemetery, lay every wreath by hand, and say each veteran’s name aloud. Families and first-time volunteers are always welcome.

IV

It stays through the season

The wreaths remain on the graves into January, then are collected and retired by the same volunteers who placed them.
