Eligibility
- Certified/licensed teachers in grades K–12
- Teachers who promote civic responsibility and patriotism
- Nominations may be submitted by anyone
- Previous national winners are not eligible
Nomination Packet Requirements
- Official entry form
- One‑page résumé (minimum)
- Up to five pages of supporting documentation
- Head‑and‑shoulders photo (if available)

Citizenship

- Encourages and models good citizenship
- Promotes community involvement
- Integrates civic responsibility into instruction
- Demonstrates respect for American values
Innovation
(1–25 points)
- Uses new ideas, tools, and approaches
- Demonstrates creativity in lesson planning
- Engages students with stimulating methods
- Shows ongoing instructional improvement
Resources

- Uses exceptional resources effectively
- Brings in speakers, veterans, or partners
- Uses museums, field trips, and local opportunities
